The heart of the ToolBank is our tool lending program. Membership is free for qualifying partner organizations and they have year-round access to our inventory of tools and equipment for a nominal fee. ToolBank tools are only available to organizations whose work benefits our shared community. First-time borrowers must complete our brief online membership application before they can borrow tools. There is no membership fee. Howard County Library System has a DIY Collection Library for Cost Free Tool and Equipment Rentals for the following categories: Biking, Camping, Craft, Gardening, General, Home Improvement, and Kitchen. There are various locations that offer this service "To borrow from the DIY collection, you must apply for and obtain a DIY Library Card. DIY items can be returned to the Elkridge Branch DIY side entrance (no appointment necessary). The loan period for items from the DIY collection is seven days. The Station North Tool Library is a nonprofit tool-lending library and community hub in the heart of Baltimore City. We offer over 3,000 tools, 30 classes, a public woodworking shop, a dedicated DIY workspace, and a home repair classroom. The Station North Tool Library seeks to empower all people to improve their lives and environments, through affordable access to tools, skills, and workspace. Our space is a welcoming environment where people can be creative, foster a do-it-yourself attitude, and learn to work with their hands. We share what we know and learn from each other!"
