AUTHORITY RECOGNIZES

THE BALTIMORE RAVENS
RECYCLING PROGRAM

The Board of Directors of the Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority awarded a certificate of excellence in recycling to the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League for the recycling program that they established at their training facility in Owings Mills in Baltimore County. Mr. Charles Reighart, Baltimore County Recycling Coordinator, presented the award at the Ravens' training facility on Tuesday, October 8, 2002.

The Ravens initiated their recycling program as a result of a site visit to their Owings Mills facility by Joe Pistorio of the Baltimore County Recycling Division and Clif Dowling, commercial recycling specialist for the Maryland Recycles program.  They did an evaluation of the facility's waste disposal program and made recommendations for establishing a cost-effective recycling program. The Ravens' staff then implemented a program for recycling paper and cardboard.  Their recycling program is an excellent example of a cost-effective program that benefits the environment while improving the bottom line.
